1.    What is the address of Black Sands Lodge - Piha?

9 Sylvan Glade, Piha, Waitakere.  First driveway on the left after turning into Sylvan Glade from Beach Valley Road, Piha.

2.    How do I collect the keys?

Black Sands Lodge is on a 2500sq meter section along with our own home.  Each is very private from the other.  We ask you for an estimated time of arrival so we can keep an eye and ear out for you to greet you and show you your Suite.

3.    How do I pay?

Your booking will be held confirmed upon receipt of your Visa or Mastercard details.  Unless other arrangements are made we will charge your account with full payment 15 days prior to your expected arrival.  If you do not wish to pay by credit card, no problem, just let us know so we can make arrangements that suit you.

4.   Can I smoke?

There is a no smoking policy inside both the Kauri & Tui Suites and the Beach Cabin.  You may, however, smoke outside your own Suite.

5.    What time can I check in?

Check in is any time after 2pm.  However if your arrival time is earlier you are welcome to have coffee in the garden or leave your car here while you explore Piha Beach until your Suite is available.

6.    What time is check out?

Check out, for the Suites, is by midday.  The Cabin checkout time is by 11am please.

7.    How often is my room serviced?

You are given fresh towels every other day and a full linen change and service each 4 nights for longer staying guests. 

8.    Is breakfast provided?

The Suites have your first mornings continental breakfast for you.  The includes meusli, yogurt, fresh milk, breakfast juice, vogels toast bread, a selection of teas and bodum coffee.

9.    Are there any shops in Piha for supplies?

Yes.  There is one Store in Piha that stocks most supplies for a short stay. They also make good espresso coffee!  If you are wishing to purchase 'supermarket' supplies we recommend Super Value in Titirangi.

10.  Can I eat out in Piha?

Yes.  During the summer months you can choose between the Piha RSA, a 5 minute walk from us, or the Piha Surf Life Saving Club, a 3 minute walk from us, or the Piha Bowling Club which is a 7 - 8 minute walk from us.  During the winter months the Clubs reduce their hours but you are usually able to eat out each night except Monday.

11.   Is there mobile phone reception in Piha?

Vodafone has the best reception in Piha and certainly at Piha Beach Accommodation - Black Sands Lodge.  There are areas in Piha and at Black Sands where Telecom mobile reception can be picked up.

12.   Is there internet access at Piha?

The Kauri and Tui Suites have Wifi broadband access.  The Piha Store has one public internet access computer.
